More sunshine, swims and kisses

No pills are taken.
Actually, until now, during the whole life no pills were taken.
Never medication was needed.

On the rare occasions a flue attack was suffered, the remedy was to have the body itself take care of it.
And that is it.
Never anything more serious than a flue was experienced.

However, every morning with breakfast one pill is swallowed.
This is a multivitamin pill.
Although during the day fruit and vegetables are eaten, that should supply plenty of vitamins and minerals, the idea is enjoyed to assist the body with even more of those goodies.

And as with the red wine that is occasionally consumed, the multivitamins that are bought, are the ones that are the most expensive.
To be sure of the good quality.

Now, some people may say that this is silly.
That there are good red wines for lower prices and multivitamin pills half the price and as good as the expensive ones.

This, Preferred and other fervent and loyal blog readers, is not true.
Consumerlab.com tested multivitamins.

Of 21 brands of multivitamins on the market in the United States and Canada selected by ConsumerLab.com and tested by independent laboratories, just 10 met the stated claims on their labels or satisfied other quality standards.

Most worrisome is that one product, The Vitamin Shoppe Multivitamins Especially for Women, was contaminated with lead.

Other products contained more or less of a particular vitamin than listed on the label.
And some did not dissolve in the correct amount of time, meaning they could potentially pass through the body without being fully absorbed.

Final conclusion according to Consumerlab.com:
"Half the products were fine, half were not".

Which multivitamines were ok?

• Centrum® High Potency, Centrum® Performance®, and Centrum® Silver®, made by Wyeth

• Nutrilite® Daily, Nutrilite® Double X®, and Nutrilite® Kids, made by Access Business Group

• Puritan’s Pride® Mega Vita Gel, Puritan’s Pride® Ultra Vita-min, and Puritan’s Pride® ABC Plus® Senior, made by NBTY

• GNC Women’s Ultra Mega®, made by GNC

• Nature Made® Essential Woman, made by Pharmavite

• One a Day® for Women and Flintstones® Complete, made by Bayer

• Just Once® Naturals Women’s OneTM, Just Once Naturals Prenatal OneTM, and Just Once® Naturals Active OneTM Senior, made by Rainbow Light®

So, it was not a bad idea to have always bought the expensive Centrum vitamin pills.

Now, Centrum has come with a new product that sounds very interesting.
It is called Centrum Cardio and it claims that it will lower the level of cholesterol.
Besides the benefits of the multivitamins and minerals it contains.
In Centrum Cardio is the natural ingredient "plant sterol" that is scientifically proven to lower cholesterol.

There is only one disadvantage to Centrum Cardio.
It is very expensive.
You can find a CVS-Pharmacy multivitamin daily dose for $ 0,07.
A Centrum multivitamin daily dose for $ 0,06.
But a daily dose of Centrum Cardio will cost $ 0,26

But if it extends your life for, let’s say, 10 years, that’s $ 950
The price of a computer for 10 more years of sunshine, swims and kisses.
