The then and the now

Arrived in the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and after four weeks of beautiful weather the skies have become dark and rain is falling.
This kind of depressing and uncomfortable weather is clearly remembered from the days when Amsterdam was the hometown.
And more comes back from the memory.
Mainly because these days are spent in the house opposite of the building that once was owned and used as home.
So many memories are coming back inspired by the specific light and the sounds that come from the street.

But there is absolutely no nostalgia ruining the mood.
Not at all.
Because then was then and now is now.
And the now is not worse than the then.
The then is even incompatible with the now.
In fact, the then was great and the now is great also.

On top of that, the truth is that the now sees a situation that has never occurred in the then.
The different things that are currently happening and are being experienced are so unique and exceptional that there is no equivalent in the then.

Partly this is because of an accumulation.
Things coming to a climax.
Finding conclusions.
Time and its elements sailing to a result.
A line of events showing its sense suddenly.

It is like leading oneself through a landscape.
Not knowing exactly where to go.
Travelling by intuition, chance and impulses.
To end up where are oasis, palm trees, sunshine and drinking water.
And this in rainy Amsterdam.
