Out of air tire

It feels we are hungry.
To accept new innovations that make our lives easier and more environmentally friendly.
Products that are less polluting, less spoiling and wasting while at the same time offering us better benefits.

Thanks to fervent and loyal blog reader Andreas from Germany our attention is guided to a sensational new product.
This product is so different that first one can hardly believe what is seen.
It is so unusual and strange.
But after digesting the first shocks, one starts to realise it really makes sense.

The exciting new product is called the “Tweel”.

"Major revolutions in mobility may come along only once in a hundred years," said Terry Gettys, president of Michelin Americas Research and Development Centre in Greenville, S.C.
"But a new century has dawned and Tweel has proven its potential to transform mobility.
Tweel enables us to reach levels of performance that quite simply aren't possible with today's conventional pneumatic technology."

We are talking here about a new tire.
That comes without any air.
The round shape of the tire is achieved by using flexible fins.

This new revolutionary tire is developed and produced by a French company called Michelin.
It is a worldwide company selling their tires in most countries.
They have a plant in South Carolina, USA where these new exciting airless tires are developed and made.
Michelin introduced this new kind of tire last month at the Philadelphia International Auto Show.
It is expected that soon they will be on the market.

As of then, no more flat tires and air pressure to check!

Did you notice the press release was from almost 4 years ago? Wonder what happened to the technology since?

i can see this century coming up with hordes of new innovations. the time is ripe. all crises for man are important. only from crises will new directions be found. if man lived in his comfort zone there would be nothing new but the usual aches and pains and the annual influenza virus.

I forsee problems when using such a tire in muddy or snowy conditions. The open part of the tire would quickly fill up with mud or snow. Perhaps the tire is shown without a sidewall just for marketing purposes.
