The cow no more

Why would you have this tagged "animal cruelty". If the animal is raised for food, killed quickly, then all usable parts of it are used with minimal waste, then I would think that the Gonzales family showed respect for the animal. The cow fulfilled its purpose in life.

I noticed that the cow absolutely did not agree with the purpose in life humans had been choosing for her

The conversion of life to food is an ugly affair. It is also ugly in the plant world too.

Some things, like sausage, are better left not seeing how they are made.

If more people had to witness the slaughtering of the animal they so voraciously eat, fewer of them would be willing to do so.

This is the reality of eating animals. They suffer so we can fill our bellies with heart disease causing fat. You haven't even documented the actual killing, which is the most difficult part to witness.

MELackey - your posting is pure rationalization. Who are you or anyone else to decide what this animals "purpose in life" is? Are you God? I think not. I bet he/she believed his/her purpose was to amble about the countryside with the extended family, eating grass, procreating and then raising their young. And to live a long and healthy life.

Dawn, we possibly have different beliefs. Hopefully we can disagree without being disagreeable. I am not God, but I do believe in Genesis God gave man dominion over all of the fish, birds, and animals. I point that out, but I don't want to get into a theological discussion. That wasn't my point.

As to the point of witnessing slaughtering, you are correct. I am a hunter. I believe that when you take an animals life, it should not be for sport, but for consumption. You owe the animal that much respect. Also, doing your own butchering creates an awareness of the process, so you are more deliberate and not as wasteful with your food choices.
