How to make a dog happy.

All business and fun done in La Paz, Baja California, Mexico, the Fuso Szulc headed for Punta Boca del Salado.
A 4-hour drive south crossing steep mountains to get to the eastern side of the peninsula.
Where the climate is more moderate and a sea instead of an ocean.

The last 50 kilometres (31 miles) are along the coast on a dirt road.
This stretch is mostly not developed yet.
It’s hot prime real estate where eventually hotels and villas will be build.
Driving this road these days is moving in between fences.
Fences decorated with large signs saying to stay out.
Besides, the Mexican Government has now put huge panels in the landscape warning people to respect the property rights and threatening with prison terms and deportation.
It gives a weird feeling.
Like a dance around the money pot is going on.
Worshipping of the Mammon.

Destiny was the rancho of the Gonzales family.
A family warmly befriended for decades where one is always welcome and staying with them highly appreciated.

Their rancho is next to the Sea of Cortez in a very wide dry riverbed.
They keep cattle and goats for selling to the slaughterhouse but their main source of income has changed due to the influx of Americans in the area who have been building houses and now need water and maintenance.
Hence, the family has a dump truck and an earth-moving machine available and delivers water to the cisterns of the Gringos.

After greeting the family and chatting about what has been happening since the last time met, Mr. Gorba was the next to see.

Gorba is a dog that belongs to Alfredo Gonzales.
He has a small rancho next to the one of his brother Gumaro.
However, most of the time Alfredo is not there.
He inherited land from his parents and as it was beachfront property he sold it for a good price.
The incentive to run his rancho properly disappeared due to this sale.
He has money now so why bother?
Another reason for the poor state his rancho is in comes from the fact he has a girlfriend who lives in a small town 2 hours away.
Many times a month he goes there and stays with her for days.
When he does, he simply leaves Gorba, his dog, behind, chained up and without food and water.

This is how Gorba was found yesterday.
Looking reasonably well but without food and his bowl of water empty.
While temperatures were around 34º C. (93º F.)

Gorba extremely happy to see the person who comes and next takes real good care of him.

However, he was still to the chain without the special harness that had been bought for him in the Pet Store in Temecula, California, USA.
It was handed to good friend Erick in La Paz more than two months ago with the request to deliver it to Alfredo.
Good friend Erick had been going to the rancho and gave the harness to Alfredo.
But Alfredo had not made the effort to put it on Gorba.

This was therefore the first activity to perform at the rancho Punta Boca del Salado.
To change the way Gorba was tied up.
Stopping this tight rope put around his neck from almost strangling him each time he pulled too hard.

And next to supply him with cool and fresh water as well as a bowl of delicious dog food specially brought from La Paz.

Alfredo should not own a dog if he is going to mistreat it this way! Please take the dog with you or take it to a shelter for proper care.
