Speaking with two voices

The question is if all fervent and loyal blog readers know what is a ventriloquist.
Some readers may think it is a person working in a hospital with a breathing ventilator during heart surgery.
Or the person responsible for putting in vents in RV’s at Fleetwoods.

Today’s posting begins at this light note because we all know what is a ventriloquist:
a person who can speak or utter sounds so that they seem to come from somewhere else.
This is not a smart strategy of a flatulence person suffering of excessive and loud escapes of intestinal gases, tricking people in looking up into the sky expecting a thunderstorm coming.

We find ventriloquists in Vaudeville theatres or on TV.
They usually have a doll or animal in their hand and pretend to have a conversation.
Using two different kinds of voices but both coming from the ventriloquist.

This is old-fashioned entertainment and rarely interesting or even amusing to see.

But checking the website of YouTube to find nice entertainment to enjoy the evening, by chance videos of shows of Nina Conti were found.
Nina Conti is a 35-year-old actress from the United Kingdom.
Both of her parents were actors but she decided to study.
This at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom, where she graduated with a first class honours degree in philosophy.
Nevertheless, in 1996, at the age of 24, she started to work as an actress.
She appeared in some movies and theatre plays until in 2001 she started to present herself as a ventriloquist.
Using a monkey as the conversation partner.

Now this may all sound like a not very interesting act.
But this clever girl brought ventriloquism to a new level.
It needs to be seen to believe, but it is hilarious and fascinating.
It explains why her show became a huge success.

One of the things she does is that in conversation with the monkey, he proposes her to take him off her hand.
So now she speaks to her hand that pretends to be the naked monkey.
Next, the monkey asks if he can get into her…
This she allows and step-by-step we see her transform into the monkey.
The end is that she talks like the monkey as she talked before like herself.
A most stunning thing to see.

This is taking ventriloquism to new heights.
