The horse is gone

There is incredible beauty being at Punta Boca del Salado.
See for example how the office looks at sunset.

This beauty is not saturating for 100 % though.
There are certain things happening at Punta Boca del Salado that are experienced as not very beautiful at all.

One example is a horse that was tied up near the rancho for months now.
It had been roaming freely for two years.
Having a wild life in the mountains until it was caught coming down to drink from the water well of the rancho.

In a former posting it was reported how an effort was made to try to become friends with this horse.
Because it inspired sentimental feelings.
Having lost its freedom and unable to understand why it was tied up.

During months this horse was offered fresh water and hay.
To see if some kind of friendship could develop.

Yesterday an end came to the ordeal of the horse.
The ordeal of being tied up in the bright sun all day.
The ordeal of days without water or food.
The ordeal of being without freedom.

For 1.500 Pesos (95 Euros, 139 $) the horse was sold.

Yesterday the new owners came to pick it up.

Once in the trailer and ready for transportation, there were tears in the eyes of the horse.

It is always amazing to me how humans treat animals. There are the horrible pictures on TV right now of how the slaughter house took cows too sick to stand and repeatedly shocked them with electricity and beat them with clubs to get them to move and when that did not work they took forklifts and either pushed them across the cement to the slaughter place or tried to pick them up with the front end and dropped them over and over on the cement. This done to cows who were never supposed to be used for food in the first place because they were sick. Now I see this young horse forced into a trailer and then tied so tight around it's neck it will be lucky to get to it's new home alive. All because we believe we are the superior species and all other life on earth is our possesion to do with whatever we feel like doing.
